Drents Landschap
series: Oude tijden herleven
Drenthe Landscape
series: Relive old times
Rolde with its characteristic church tower, the gothic Jacobuskerk. The tower was a beacon for travelers between the city of Groningen and Coevorden. In this scene we also see hunebed D16 from the village of Balloo, on the edge of the Kampsheide nature reserve. It is one of the larger dolmens with nine capstones, which is situated in the middle of the fields, meadows and forest edge. Bartje cannot be missed either. The Saxon farm, a typical Drenthe farm form, was found in the Norg area.
“Drents Landschap” is part of a series about Groningen and Drenthe. ‘Oude tijden herleven’. For me it was about the characteristic landscape elements that illuminate the different provinces and that were formed centuries ago.
