Drenthe heathland
series: Relive old times

The heathland of the Dwingelderveld in the early morning with shadowy white wings. Magical is the Drentsche sheep herd of the Schoonebeker breed with its high legs and long tails, under the care of the shepherd in the Wapser and Doldersummer fields. Through the cottage of the Ellert and Brammert Open Air Museum, the scene becomes what Drenthe could have looked like in the old days. It shows how people lived.


“Drentse heide” is part of a series about Groningen and Drenthe. ‘Oude tijden herleven’. For me it was about the characteristic landscape elements that illuminate the different provinces and that were formed centuries ago.
